Wood Recycling Driver and Sales

Permanent – Part time Wed-Sat between 07am-5pm

Salary £19,281.60 pro rata

This is a job covering two departments. As a wood recycler you will work as a driver and operating a 3.5 tonne caged tipper making commercial waste wood collections, separating re-usable wood and returning it to our warehouse. You will also be tasked with making deliveries of timber and wood products (either solo or as a team) to domestic customers around the region.

As a Sales Person you are part of the sales team in the Woodshop. The job involves assisting customers with choosing materials, processing sales and de-nailing and cutting wood to size.

Reports to: Collections Manager & Shop Manager

Core responsibilities and activities:

Driving our vehicles to collect waste wood and deliver materials

Responsible for safe loading, securing and unloading

Excited about working with colleagues with a wide variety of talents and challenges

Complete paperwork to a satisfactory and legal standard

Good at building relationship with our customers (site managers and forkies)

Identification of recoverable wood for re-use


Serving customers at the sales desk and in the warehouse

Operate the till and take wood orders

Cutting timber to size for customers, using bench equipment

Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe sales floor and workshop

Responding to sales enquiries by phone, social media and email

To open and close the Woodshop

Prepare reclaimed wood for sales (de-nailing and cutting)

Work to hit and exceed customer satisfaction and sales targets

Health and safety responsibility for yourself and others


What we are looking for:

Clean driving licence (If you have points, check eligibilty with us)

A positive attitude with a flexible approach

Independent problem solver

A great listener, who loves helping our DIY customers with their projects

An attentive salesperson providing excellent customer service

A keen eye for detail in making our shop attractive

A roll up your sleeves type of energetic self-starter

Experience using tools like saws, sanders and planers – using our safe working practises

An interest in wood and woodworking

Passionate about reclaiming and upcycling

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials – using our safe working practises

Computer savvy (efficient in using email, social media, Facebook)

CSCS Card (Training provided to obtain this card).
