Announced in July 2020 as part of the Plan for Jobs, the Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create high quality 6-month job placements for young people aimed at those aged 16-24 who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long-term unemployment. It gives young people the chance to build their confidence and skills in the workplace, and to gain experience that will improve their chances of going on to find long-term, sustainable work.
After our recent recruitment drive for a placement at OWR we are delighted to announce not one, but two trainees have been taken on to the Kickstart programme as Wood Recycling Trainees.
We are delighted that Cameron North and CJ Hutchinson have started their placements with us where they are already getting involved and experiencing what we do on collections, in the wood shop dealing with customers and learning how to prepare wood for sale.
The placements are designed to encourage Cameron and CJ’s confidence and provide them both with credible experience of being engaged within a work environment. We hope the six month programme acts as a stepping stone for them both into future career paths of their own choosing.
