It’s a pleasure to introduce Chris Boreham, our lead carpenter here at Oxford Wood Recycling. We asked him a few questions about his role and what it is like working here.
Q: How are you finding your new job as lead carpenter at OWR?
A: So far, so good. No woodwork yet but planning out a workshop is fun. Being able to start with an empty space and try to work out where everything needs to be is a challenge.
Q: What is it like in the woodshop?
A: Mostly calm and productive with times of hectic activity.
Q: What interesting things have you been involved in?
A: I helped clear a retired harpsichord makers workshop last week, that was an insight into a craft I know nothing about.
Q: Can you describe a typical day?
A: At the moment it’s mostly helping customers with occasional work on the new workshop.
Q: What is your favourite project you’ve worked on, in or outside the business?
A: Probably building my canoe, that’s been a project that keeps giving me enjoyment, as well as being a learning curve.
